An
Evening With Kevin Smith -
DVD
-
Silent Bob Speaks and boy does he speak! 4 hours of
dry-trouser threateningly funny Kevin Smith, director
of Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy on his
life, his films, his work on Superman Reborn, Prince
documentaries, the origins of 'Smoochie Boochies',
protesting against his own film, his producer Scott Mosier's
camper van and an anatomical description of how much he
loves his wife. Oh! And its got Jay in it on top form.
Filmed in front of a live studio (?) audience in university
campuses across America (how come I never got this? That
said Milla Jovovovich came to sing in our student union to
an audience of 30 by all accounts and despite the offer of
free beer I still couldn't be bothered to turn up. More fool
me eh). Top drawer stuff that's available Stateside only.
Worth importing if you are outside America just to see how
much nerve US students have to give Kevin Smith attitude
(and offer sexual favours). Hey, I'm not saying that this
DVD will make you a better film-maker but its a fine way to
spend a night. Oh yeah and don't miss out on the
hidden
Easter Eggs.
Finally check out the UK link. Watch in horror as Kevin
Smith interviews Spiderman creator Stan Lee like
a 12-year old comic fanboy while struggling to maintain his
cool. Its good to know that even outr heroes have
heroes.
